E-Signature

Require approvers to sign off with a legally-attributable e-signature — a typed or drawn signature captured with their decision, not just a click.

E-Signature captures a legally-styled electronic signature from an approver at the moment they record their decision, instead of a bare click. When a step has e-signature enabled, the approver types or draws their name before the decision is saved, and ApproveThis stores a tamper-evident audit context alongside it — the signer's name, the signature type, the consent version, the signing method, the request IP address and user-agent, and a SHA-256 hash of the request's field values at signing time. This guide covers approving with a typed signature; you'll need a request waiting on you as an approver on an e-signature step.

Approve the request with a typed signature

Use this when the step you're approving requires a signature — purchases, contracts, or anything where a click alone isn't enough evidence of who signed off. The signature terms shown to you are snapshotted when the request is created, so later edits to the flow don't change what you agreed to, and the same audit context is recorded whether you approve or deny.

  1. Sign in as the approver on the request.

  2. Click Approve on the request awaiting your decision.

  3. Type your name in Full name — the example uses Noor Haddad.

  4. Click Sign & Approve to capture the signature and record your decision.

The decision is recorded with your signature attached, shown as Signed as: Noor Haddad in the example.
